Learn about Klimt’s "two kisses", taking you from the First Kiss at the Upper Belvedere to the Beethoven Kiss at the Secession House. On top of this, encounter other city highlights including the Soviet Monument and Naschmarkt.

Highlights

  • Explore the Upper Belvedere, which houses G. Klimt’s Kiss
  • Encounter Belvedere’s Gardens
  • See the monumental Schwarzenbergplatz/Soviet Monument
  • See the two epochs of Karlsplatz

Description

After departing from your accommodation, depart for your first stop of the garden gate to the Upper Belvedere. Whilst there, learn how Klimt’s First Kiss highlights the gallery of the palace. Your guide will also explain to your how Klimt's 'Schieles an Kokoschkas' illustrates the spirit in Vienna of around 1900. From there, walk down the hill. As you pass the Lower Belvedere, the Baroque is left behind. The Soviet Monument at Schwarzenbergplatz represents the best and worst of Vienna's history. Karlplatz is surrounded by the city’s most impressive Baroque church - St. Charles, one of the world’s best concert halls - Musikverein, and Otto Wagner’s iconic Art Nouveau metro pavilions. Reaching the Secession Building, modern Vienna materializes before you. This is the area containing the neighborhoods where Freud, Mahler, Schoenberg, Klimt, Schiele, and Hitler have roamed. There you learn about Klimt’s second kiss, the 'Beethoven Kiss', whilst also exploring the colorful and multicultural Naschmarkt, which is a good place to relax in this history-laden city.
