Kristians Monastiri is known for its excellent food, its inimitable ambience. Within the walling of a beautiful abbey, just in the trendy 'Spittelberg Area' right in the city centre, the award winning restaurant started to inspire the locals in the beginning of 2000. It is the perfect place to go if you are looking for a memorable experience here in Vienna - unique, and not easy to be topped!
The food as mentioned is excellent. The kitchen chef will surprise you with specialties composed by a fusion of international, Mediterranean and seasonal cuisine - every dish is an experience!
The menu changes every 4 - 6 weeks (have a look here to get an idea). We specially recommend the seafood at Monastiri - it is famous for its most delicious fish creations and they are not easily topped in Vienna! All ingredients used at the Monastiri are of sustainable and organic production and are then lovingly crafted into outstanding creations - a feast for the eye and for the palate.
Another highlight is the wine selection here... the sommelier is an oenology expert who will be able to recommend the best regional selections to accompany your meal. In fact, the Monastiri is an award-winning restaurant, beloved by wine connoisseurs and gourmet food lovers from all over.
Why do people come to the Monastiri? Apart from the food and wine the atmosphere here is unique: the Monastiri combines a cozy and rustic 'abbey' atmosphere with young and modern design elements. The beautiful courtyard is perfect for dinners outside - during summer or warmer months make sure to book a table in this romantic passage-courtyard, surrounded by the old monastery walls, covered with lovely climbing plants - it is a unique location, right in the middle of Vienna.
After or before dinner guests like to meet at Monastiri's cool cocktail/liquor bar - the drinks are deliciously mixed, the ambience is great, and the quality of service is very high. There is always a possibility to have your drinks served with light meals if you don't feel like sitting down to have a proper meal.
Another highlight is the wine cellar here. The Monastiri has specialized in offering the best wine selections (many of them from Austria's top wine makers). Have the sommelier or restaurant owner take you to the wine cellar in the abbey basement. He will recommend and help you choosing the right wine, and you can get an idea about how well this cellar is stocked - wine connoisseurs among you will feel that their evening has surpassed all expectations!
The restaurant just won the first price for the best Schanigarten in Vienna - it's the perfect place to go for special events!
