Kohlmarkt

The Kohlmarkt is one of the oldest streets in Vienna. It dates back to the Roman times of Vidobona, when it was a 'Coal Street'. This street is relatively short, but it's home to a high concentration of jewelers and international luxury fashion brands. It extends from Michaelerplatz to Graben.

Amongst the many shops, here you can find the renowned Swiss jeweler Cartier, the famous Austrian jeweler C. F. Rothe & Neffe, the Chopard Boutique and many other jewelry stores both of Austrian and international fame.

As for the clothing stores, the Kohlmarkt offers a wide variety of high-fashion boutiques such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Armani, Burberry and many others.

If you are interested in getting a haircut from one of the most central and famous hairdressers in town, you should go to

Bundy&Bundy.

Make sure that you don't miss the renowned international gourmet supermarket in Europe, Julius Meinl am Graben. Julius Meinl created this gourmet “supermarket” for his wife, who was very interested in international food and didn't want to limit herself to Austrian specialties. If you go to this gourmet store, make sure you look around and enjoy the Art Nouveau interior design, as well as the special collection of expensive Cognacs in the windows of the stairs that lead to the second floor!

Another must-go is the Demel Confectionery

If you don’t want to limit yourself only to one street, make sure you check out also neighboring streets, where you can also find very exclusive labels: Versace is located in the Trattnerhof, Prada is on Weihburggasse, Gianfranco Ferre can be found on Maysedergasse and Missoni on Rauhensteingasse. The cult label Agent Provocateur from London presents its daring, extravagant designer lingerie on Tuchlauben, the extension of the Kohlmarkt.
