Description
We'll take a walk through the lively history of Favoriten, the Red Vienna, back to imperial Vienna. Why do Vienna and especially Favoriten look the way they do today? How did the workers' movement and Red Vienna shape the cityscape?
We start at Reumannplatz and walk along Favoritenstraße to Viktor-Adler-Markt, then to Keplerplatz and Arbeiterheim Favoriten, and finally to Belvedere via the main train station. Along the way, we'll take a look at striking buildings and learn stories from the past, as well as the present.
We'll end our tour at Prince Eugene's legendary baroque palace, the Belvedere, with its breathtaking gardens and a unique view of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of downtown Vienna and the vineyards of Vienna, which was captured by the painter Canaletto more than 260 years ago.
