Description

This tour will give you an overview of the most fascinating sights and places in Vienna's historical center. You will walk the city center with a licensed local guide and hear some interesting facts about the city's past and present. But you will not only see the most famous places but also some of the hidden gems, that often go undiscovered. You will find out about Vienna's history in the Ancient Roman times and in the Middle Ages. You will cross the area of the medieval Jewish quarter. Along the way, we will walk through picturesque passageways and stop by one or another hidden courtyard. You will discover the area of the Hofburg palace that used to be the residence of the Habsburgs and nowadays the location of many interesting museums. There you will hear stories about the building's former residents and its present use. You'll take a stroll through the former palace gardens and enjoy the smell of 3.000 rose bushes. You will learn about the history of the famous Ring Street and its marvelous buildings. You will discover the story of Vienna's famous Sacher cake (and what other cakes you should try during your stay here). On your way through the streets of Vienna, you will also pass by the Capucinian Crypt, which is the family crypt of the Habsburgs. We will end our tour at Vienna's most famous landmark, Saint Stephen's Cathedral in the heart of Vienna's Old town area. The tour will be filled with stories about Vienna's history, it will give you tons of motives for great photographs and lots of ideas on how you can spend your time in this beautiful city.
