People tell me that I have very high standards with respect to food, coffee, and dessert, and throughout my stay in Vienna there were so many cafes that were an absolute let down. My wife and I essentially had two days of mere cafe hopping…a cafe crawl, if you will, so we sampled quite a few cafes. This by far was my favorite! The cappuccinos were great and the cremenschnitte was perfect! We also got the Wiener Schnitzel, and were pleasantly surprised at how nicely the side salads were prepared in addition to the main dish. We came here twice, and I recommend others to do the same! It’s a perfect place to read a good book and sip some coffee.

On Good Friday, we had lunch during our trip to Wien. After spending an exciting and "exhausting" morning in the Belvedere Palace, we decided to "recharge our battery" before soldiering onto the military museum and Panzerhalle. The cafe culture in Wien is world famous, we picked Cafe Goldegg for logistic reason as it is handy to both the Belvedere Palace and the Arsenal precinct. We did not have to wait and a very efficient waitress led us to our table. The décor was amazing and reminded us the 19th century or early 20th century immediately. We had to try the sausage and goulash. It came with fresh bread roll. Of course we also Almdudler, coffee and apple strudel. In one word, delicious. The drinks and food were presented to us in a very orderly manner, rather than arriving all at once. The bill? It was also very palatable. Experiencing cafe culture is a must for every visitor to Wien and visiting Cafe Goldegg will not disappoint. Strongly recommended!

We recently visited this cafe and had a very pleasant experience. I’d especially like to highlight our waiter — incredibly positive, attentive, and genuinely friendly. From the very beginning, he created a comfortable atmosphere, helped us with the menu, and was always available without ever being intrusive. You can really tell he enjoys his job and knows how to treat guests well — which is quite rare. The service overall was excellent: fast, smooth, and always with a smile. It’s people like this who make a restaurant visit truly memorable.

What a lovely little gem. This Viennese cafe was full of character, with great service and food. We especially enjoyed the apple strudel with vanilla sauce. It was quite busy with lots of locals, we were fortunate to get a table without booking. An easy walk from the Belvedere, definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
