Zum Schwarzen Kameel
This is the place where Viennese go to see and to be seen - it is likely that you will meet prominent members of Viennese society here.
One of your must do's here is join the vibrant, noisy and stunning art nouveau bar/parlour where you can see/order most of what you eat from a stunning art nouveau counter: try the DELICIOUS home-made sandwiches on display (hamrolls are the hit!) and join the crowd by leaning on some high tables - it is a great atmosphere - have a champagne, wine spritzer or a draft beer to wash it down! To finish off: try some the delicacies in the patisserie: check out the choice inside a stunning art nouveau display cabinet!
You can also come here in between meals and enjoy a cup of coffee: try some of the many coffeespecialities or tarts, cakes or desserts on display - you will not be disappointed!
Another choice is the restaurant: a stunning art nouveau interior, excellent traditional Viennese food - the atmosphere is a bit conservative, so are the waiters...but it will give you an idea what vienna is (and used to be) all about....
Local home made delicatessen can be bought and taken home as souvenirs - we recommend, among others, the Apricot jam (Marillenmarmelade) and the schnaps (again Marille is best) - they make great presents!
