From Vienna: Full-Day Trip to Prague
25 ReviewsExperience the culture and history of Prague with a full-day trip. See the main attractions like Charles Bridge, the National Theatre, and more before trying out some delicious Czech beer.
During the day this museum district in Vienna is one of the most attractive spots to visit.
This square has been redesigned end of the 1990ies (formerly it housed the imperial horse stables, located next to the Hofburg Palace) and now boasts some of the most important Museums in Vienna:
This is a Cafe during the day and a club at night. If you want to take a break from the Leopoldmuseum, you might want to taste one of the tasty cheeseburgers of this Cafe!
The MUMOK presents art history from classic modern works up to the present, ranging from Kupka to Kandinsky and from Mondrian to Moore. You also see Pop Art, Fluxus, Nouveau Réalisme and Vienna Actionism.
There is much more to this square: and many more museums - like the Vienna Kunsthalle (presenting contemporary international art) as well as ZOOM the childrens Museum, etc..
Check the website for further info.
And in the evenings? What happens here?
Well, most of Viennese coming here go to one of the many and excellent restaurants and bars that surround this exceptional square.
But, especially in summer, when you can enjoy those long warm summer evenings, you can experience a great deal of the local young, arty and urban Viennese bringing their own food and drinks to the square, hanging out on one of the many public 'lying benches'.... they come here to sit, chill, chat and enjoy the atmosphere....really unique and very relaxed!
Rarely will you experience loud partying and alcohol excesses - people come here to enjoy their evening in style - it is all pretty calm and cozy, and extremely laid back!
Also, during many evenings throughout the warmer months you will be able to join open-air concerts, lectures or similar events going on (check our My Guide Vienna event section!). Everybody joins or listens - a great reason to stay here many hours and enjoy the evenings....
Check Cafe Leopold and 'Cafe-Restaurant Halle' in case you get hungry....they are the best spots on the square....!
