Description

Look forward to a private guided tour (closed group) without any strangers. Know before you go: Since January 2024, the city guide has been required to collect a solidarity contribution of €3 per person in cash on site for the upkeep of Vienna's cemeteries. An old Viennese saying goes that we are all equal in death. In the Vienna Central Cemetery, this only really applies to the area underground. Splendor and fame, prestige and wealth are impressively showcased beyond one's lifetime. You will see and experience this splendor on a private combo tour of Vienna Central Cemetery. In the first part of the private tour, you will see the most magnificent section between the imposing Gate 2 entrance portal and the monumental cemetery church in Viennese Art Nouveau style. In this area, your private tour guide will show you numerous graves of honor. Such as: Beethoven, Johann Strauss, the Thonet family, Hans Moser, Manfred Deix, and, of course, the honorary grave of Udo Jürgens. Know before you go: You will not see Falco's grave on this tour. His grave is located in the Gate 3 section. Before leaving the Gate 2 section, you will take an exciting guided tour of the Cemetery Church. Now there is an approximately 15-minute walk without commentary to the Jewish section at Gate 1. Did you know that in the Jewish faith, the 'place of graves' is the most important institution of the Jewish community, alongside the synagogue? Men need to wear headgear. Magnificent and imposing funerary monuments paired with fascinating anecdotes from contemporary history. You won't be able to stop marveling. With a little luck, you will see deer in the old Jewish section.
