Description

Your driver will meet you at your hotel lobby or the address you provide shortly before departure. You will embark on a private day tour to Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital, and Lake Bled, one of Europe’s notable alpine lakes.

During the drive from Vienna, there will be a short stop at a highway rest area, passing through the Austrian and Slovenian countryside.

Ljubljana is Slovenia’s largest city and its cultural, economic, and political center with around 300,000 residents. It originated as settlements along the Ljubljanica River in the 1st century and was first documented as a city in the 12th century. Historically, it was the capital of Carniola within the Habsburg monarchy.

Upon arrival, a local guide will greet you at the entrance to the city center for a two-hour walking tour. The guide will explain Ljubljana’s history, pointing out key sites such as the Dragon Bridge, a city symbol representing power and courage, featured on the Ljubljana coat of arms and the Ljubljana Castle tower.

You will visit Prešeren Square, home to the Franciscan Church of the Annunciation, then Town Square with the Town Hall, Ljubljana Cathedral, National Gallery, Robba Fountain, Slovenian Philharmonic Building, and the Triple Bridge.

After the walking tour, you will have free time to explore Ljubljana’s Old Town and enjoy lunch at your own expense.

Next, the tour proceeds to Lake Bled, located in the Julian Alps near the town of Bled. You will visit Bled Island, known for its pilgrimage church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. Above the lake on the north shore stands medieval Bled Castle, which contains a museum.

Your driver will meet you at a pre-arranged location at Lake Bled and will then drive you back to your destination in Vienna after the walking portion of the tour.
