Description

Escape Vienna’s heat with a guided hike in the Hochschwab area, part of Austria’s Northern Limestone Alps. Travel by car or van from Vienna to the trailhead.

From May to October, hike 18 kilometers over forests and rocky trails, climbing approximately 1300 meters up and down. You may spot local wildlife such as capricorns. If you prefer, relax at the hut instead of reaching the summit (14 kilometers, 800 meters climb).

From November to March, experience snowy trails during a 10 to 15 kilometer hike with about 800 meters of ascent and descent. The option to stay at the mountain hut is available (10 kilometers, 700 meters climb).

Your certified mountain guide will teach you map reading, orientation, and compass use. The tour includes one night’s stay with breakfast at a mountain hut where rooms and bathrooms may be shared with other guests.

Return to Vienna in the late afternoon or evening the next day, rejuvenated after your alpine experience.

Hiking shoes can be rented for free when requested in advance, but it’s recommended to bring your own for best comfort.

You can book this tour alone. It requires at least two participants to take place. To secure your booking, reserve two spots if required by the platform. If another guest joins, you will be notified and can cancel the second spot, otherwise enjoy a private tour.
