Donaukanal - Sandy Vibes
It is due to the Austrian DJ duo of 'Kruder and Dorfmeister' that the 'Viennese Sound' has become so well known in the electronic music world during the 1990s. Vienna has since then been on the forefront of the electronic music development and attracts incredible crowds of music lovers to come here.
The scene here is dancing to techno and electronic sounds - mostly in very unusual locations.
All of Europe knows that the Flex owns one of the best sound systems in Europe and has therefore become unique. It is located in a subway shaft that was transformed into a club, which regularly invites international DJs to perform. Flex is one of the only night clubs along the Danaube Channel and in Vienna where you get the chance to dance outside to electro and techno sounds! Check our nightlife section for further info.
A bit further downstream, right on the Danube Channel, the Vienna Badeschiff lies at anchor, with a pool for overheated disco dancers to cool themselves down in at night - again check further info in the nightlife section!
Tel Aviv Beach is the perfect place to go if you want to listen to some background electro or minimal music, while still being able to talk to your friends. This 'beach' on the Donau Channel is, usually, the place where you go before going to a club.
Another artificial beach along the Donau Channel is the Strandbar Herrmann, a lively beach, enriched by music where you can lay back on the beach chairs with an Ottakringer beer under the Summer stars!
A bit further away from the Danube channel, about 10 min by foot, another underground location has established itself at the entrance to the Prater, right next to the Wiener Riesenrad Wheel.
The Fluc+Fluc Wanne: here you find another outlet that is dedicated to electronic music, ranging form avant-garde noise performances to wild indie-disco parties - really worth checking it out!
