Reviews
Another great place that went to the dark side. I’ve been coming to this place for years and I loved it but I’m afraid that Mayer just lost a loyal customer. Except for the fact that they’ve been raising the prices every year, this year they hired a ‘security guard’. One might wonder: what is the role of the security guy on a mountain vineyard? Well he’s there to keep you from consuming your own goods. Which is understandable but also very passive aggressive. After spending 150€ for 2 bottles of wine, 2 bottles of sparkling water (for 7€ each may I note) and for other drinks and snacks, this guy has the audacity of coming over to complain because I drank TAP WATER out of my bottle. Well, man, we live in Austria where tap water belongs to the people and the culture. No self-respecting Viennese would climb up the hill without a bottle of cold tap water nor would this person put wine or whatever you might be suspecting in a metallic flower bottle. What a shame that this place started becoming another touristic trap, kicking out loyal customers that have been coming here for years… I’ll be going to other vineyards close by from now on… but Mayer’s glory time is over. YOU CANNOT DENY PEOPLE THWIR WATER ON A “MOUNTAIN”. It’s a basic human right.
Lovely place with great views over Vienna and a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for enjoying a drink. Feel the moment with drinks.
