Description
Immerse yourself in the profound legacy of Gustav Klimt at the Klimt Villa in Vienna, where art, history, and nature converge to create an unforgettable experience with this entrance ticket. Surrounded by a spacious garden, this historical site served as Klimt´s creative sanctuary from 1911 until his passing in 1918, giving life to timeless masterpieces like 'Adele Bloch-Bauer II', 'Friederike Beer”, “The Bride”, Adam and Eve', and 'Lady with Fan.' Discover how Klimt's studio underwent a posthumous transformation into the villa standing today. The unique room-in-room construction method effectively preserved Klimt´s studio. Threatened with demolition, this remarkable building was saved and revitalized during the Klimt Year in 2012 by the Republic of Austria. Gustav Klimt's reception room and studio, meticulously reconstructed, now stand as the main exhibition highlights. Catch a glimpse of the floral beauty that once surrounded Klimt's studio, the expansive garden consistently undergoes restoration. At the heart of Gustav Klimt’s Garden lie Damask roses, originally planted around 1900, now lovingly cultivated and adorning the garden as the iconic “Klimt rose”, blooming from mid-May to the end of June. Linger, savor the moment, and indulge in delightful coffee and cake at the Garden café within the Klimt Villa´s garden, open during fair weather on weekends from May to September. Walk to the south side of the Villa and discover a mesmerizing sculpture created in 2022 by the painter and sculptor Erwin Kastner. This captivating artwork, depicting Gustav Klimt in sketch form, casts a dynamic shadow on the villa´s façade as the sun moves across the sky. Explore the 'Klimt Lost' exhibition, which sheds light on the persecution of art collectors and looting during National Socialism. Furthermore, it delves into the post-1945 handling of looted paintings, providing a profound reflection on the enduring legacy of Klimt.Includes
